AAENP Policy for Granting Access to Membership Database for the Purpose of Research

American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP) encourages academic research. The AAENP Executive Committee may allow dissemination of surveys by email to the AAENP membership database for the purpose of research.  A researcher requesting distribution of a survey will be required to submit an academic research request form to the AAENP designated committee for consideration.  Once vetted, requests will be forwarded to the AAENP Executive Committee for approval. Additional information may be requested during this process.

The following criteria must be met:

  •  The research must be relevant to nurse practitioners in emergency medicine.
  • The researcher must ensure that all participants clearly understand the commitments in the agreement to participate in the study.
  • The researcher must provide proof of IRB approval prior to research being conducted
  • The research proposal has appropriate tools for the research setting.
  • This research is to further individual research/project needs not institutional, organization or company initiatives.
  • The research must align with the mission and vision of AAENP

The non-refundable application fee is $200 for non-members, $175 for members with at least 6 months of active membership(otherwise they are considered non-members), and $150 for student members with at least 6 months of active membership (otherwise they are considered what their previous membership status was). Six months of active membership is calculated using the date of application submission. Any additional costs associated with conducting the research will be the responsibility of the researcher.

Permission to conduct research is at the discretion of the AAENP Board of Directors. Applications will be reviewed quarterly. A maximum of 4 research projects will be chosen per calendar year. Research projects will be disseminated to members in the quarterly newsletter, 1 email quarterly, 1 social media post and posted on the AAENP Website for the quarter. Coordination and scheduling for research requests are at the discretion of the AAENP. No more than four emails in total be sent on behalf of the researchers to AAENP members on an annual basis. Upon approval of an individual request, AAENP will work with the researcher to create general timeline of expectations.
