Throughout this presentation, we will discuss empiric antibiotic coverage for various conditions in the emergency department setting. We will focus on "bugs and drugs" for specific disease states, in addition to identifying various patient characteristics (prior cultures, antibiotic allergies, etc) to select appropriate antibiotics for a given patient. Not everyone needs vanc + pip-tazo!

About the Presenter
Kortney Morrell is originally from the small town of Burlington, Connecticut. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in 2017. She went on to complete a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY followed by a PGY-2 in Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Upon completion of her residency training, she started working at University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center in 2019. Her professional interests include toxicology, drugs of abuse, and infectious diseases. Outside of pharmacy, Kortney enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, exploring local restaurants, and relaxing on the beach. In the last year, she even became an avid Peloton user!
