AAENP Executive Director: Jennifer Wilbeck

Dr. Jennifer Wilbeck received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia following a Master of Science in Nursing (Acute Care Nurse Practitioner) and a post-master’s certificate in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner) from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She has over twenty years of experience in emergency health care including pre-hospital, emergency department, critical care access and trauma care. For her sustained contributions in emergency care, she was inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in 2016 and in the American Academy of Nursing in 2019.

Jennifer’s passion for the role of the emergency nurse practitioner (ENP) was integral to the development of the country’s first dual ENP program (FNP/AG-ACNP) at Vanderbilt University. In addition to maintaining a clinical practice within local Emergency Departments, Dr. Wilbeck has led national efforts to standardize ENP education. Her scholarly interests include the role of simulation in nurse practitioner education, assessment and documentation of ongoing procedural competence, and curriculum development. She has lectured nationally on various clinical, educational and professional topics related to the role of the ENP.

Dr. Wilbeck is currently a Professor of Nursing at Vanderbilt University where she has led the ENP program since its inception in 2006. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as both a Family and Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner.
