DIAN EVANS

Dr. Dian Dowling Evans, Ph.D., FNP-BC, ENP-BC, FAANP is a founding Board member of AAENP having served as Chair-Elect since 2014. Dian has been a pioneer in advancing the role of the emergency nurse practitioner for the past 25 years through clinical practice, publications and presentations. Dian obtained her Masters of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 1990 and her Ph.D, from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN in 2009. She is certified as both a Family and as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). 

Dian is currently a Clinical Associate Professor and the Coordinator of the Family/Emergency Nurse Practitioner Program at Emory University. She also actively practices as an ENP for Emory Healthcare in the Emory University and Emory Midtown Hospital Emergency Departments.

Dian is recognized nationally and internationally for her presentations and publications on emergency nurse practitioner education and emergency medicine clinical topics. Her research interests include inter-professional and emergency nurse practitioner education and use of yoga as an adjunctive treatment for chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder. She is an active member and Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, a member of the Emergency Nurses Association and has served on the ANCC Expert Panel for development of ENP board certification by portfolio.
